For e.g Your tax might have run out on the 31 and you were driving your car on the first to get your tax, now how would you feel when you have your tax and the poilice stopped you and said you were driving that without tax before you got your new one. what would you say !

In my mind the laws is on both side and for both to explore it !!

I'd say I'd been caught and that the copper was a bastard for issuing the ticket. But it int the coppers decision to prosecute is it. he just writes the ticket. Oh and failure to display a valid tax disc is also an offence So even if you had the tax disc but hadn't fitted it to the windscreen you'd be breaking the law.

But it IS the copper's decision to issue the ticket for consideration of prosecution, for which they have the use of their discretion - only problem is they're all too fookin thick to be able to use it sensibly so just issue one anyway and being all pathetic people hide behind the uniform and say they gotta do it when they haven't.

I reckon all coppers were bullied at school and use the "force" to hide behind and get their own back on society. Inadequate people hiding behind a uniform. Sorry if you are one, please prove me wrong, but i've yet to see this!

OD I int a great fan of the police but I take em as I find em much as I do anyone else. At the end of the day they have a quota of tickets to issue. (despite what anyone else may say) and Fixed Penalties are there to raise funds If they don't issue tickets they get bollixed by their sargeant. I doubt most policeman are happy with their new role as taxcollectors. But it isn't really upto them any more. instead of having to justify why they've issued a ticket now they have to explain why they haven't issued em. I wouldn't want their job.

i would tell him to walk away politely and have done..

since your tax work's on a month by month basis you would have to buy it on the first to get a full month from it and all copper's know this so any that said your driving untaxed are just being a cnut..

it's like mot's you cant drive a vehical without one unless your going to get one or work for one done, and it must be booked in

it's discression on the officer at the time if you are genuinly off to get work done a mot done or to tax your motor then most will say ok and leave you to get on your way..however if you are known to be a repeat offender or the car you are taking for taxing hasent had tax in the last 28 days they may take a dimmer view of you..

Then he came on here trying to find a way to get out of having 3 points put on his licence, Got a bolloxing on here as well and started back peddling.

muddy, you shouldnt have bin there, whether the copper seen you or not, you were in the wrong. fair enough he assumed you had done what you did, but doesnt that make him a good copper for sussing you out. just admit it, you got away with doing something you shouldnt have. at the end of the day you broke the law. end of.

I agree that the system they have to work to sucks, but they do have use of their discretion which they apply very unfairly - it is very frequent for them to slap a ticket on a boy racer for doing 35 in a 30 and then let a bimbo with her tits hanging out and her eyelids fluttering off for doing 50 in the same place - so yes, they do have a certain number of tickets to "get" but my view is because they are such total inadequate people (generally, i'm sure not always!) they use this discretion to boost their egos, not to apply the law fairly!

I used to know a lot of cops and would say that even though i generally tried to get on well with them, with VERY few exceptions they are using the uniforms they wear to mask their substantial insecurities and inadequacies, and boost their egos. I would say they are frequently bullies, and a lot of them this seems to be because they are turning the tables!

I wasnt wading at the time and nor was I playing in the water I was trying to get home.
I am experienced in off roading and playing at night on my own is not top of my agenda.
Once I got pulled I was the opposite the copper was a right arse and immediately started bollocking me and said he was going to teach me a lesson, he didnt care whether I had a 4x4 or not. I just shut up and sid nothing.
Again most of what he wrote was mostly assumption !!

Course you was wading you might have had a good reason (too you) but the copper didnt care did he as far as he was concerned you shouldn't have been there so he gave you a ticket that's his job done, apart from writing up his statement for the court. and filling out the form back at the station to say he'd issued another ticket.

I live the other side of the bridge and as I have stated before I have been away all week and have been trying to get home since I got home on friday.

Is that a crime trying to get home

Until the water by the river goes down I couldnt get home and meaning sleeping on someone elses setee.
Hence why I was trying to get home

I have said this a few times but you dont seem to read it

At no time did the copper see me on the water or was my vehicle in the water

I wasnt not playing again same as the police officer you are assuming beceause I drive a 4x4 I was not playing

I live in the Worcestershire area and as you know we have had some very severe flooding!

As a keen off roader I have been interested on how much the water was rising around the area!

The Previous day I had been going around and pulling random people out of the floods just to help out!

On our way home last night I decided to go to the worcester bridge to check how bad or if the water is going down!
