I do apologise in advance if this had been mentioned before but I’ve recently brought a disco 3 and the garage is an approved RAC member (or something like that) and they’ve offered me a years warranty including parts and labour for £325 (classed under the silver deal) could anyone enlighten me as to whether to take it or not? Is it a load of BS? Is there anything else anyone could recommend?

I would google and also search the D3/4 forum as Im sure Ive seen mention of this warranty, Iirc its mainly for smaller stuff ie alternators/wheel bearings etc and what I read was posotove.
But that may not be what they have offered you
There is a lot to read ref warranties on the D3/4 forum, well worth sigining up as they are a wealth of information.

Thats cheap, if it's fully comp insurance then purchase it as u could easily spend £325 in just one issue and a small one at that. Does it have any 'get out, clauses, which can be important to know about.
Land Rover charge a lot more but it is fully comp, any issue/s gets done no IFs or BUTs.

It says it includes engine (head gasket, camshaft, oil pump, pistons, oil seals, bushes ect.) timing belts, factory fitted turbos, gearbox (M&A), drive system (F&R), electrics (starter motor, alternator, coil and horn unit), breaks (master cylinder) steering, cooling system and casings.. I’ve given a vague description but it does 80% of stuff. Like you said £325 is cheap, rather pay now than regret later.

Just make sure the vehicle meets all the requirements to allow it to be eligible for the warranty, ie FSH, Age, miles, etc. Check, check again. Also check where the fixing garage is and if you pay and reclaim the money from the RAC later or they pay garage direct.

From experience they will say it’s down to wear n tear or if it was serviced late won’t pay out my Audi cvt gearbox failed and because it was serviced 1000 miles late by previous owner they told me to feck orf

It says any VAT registered garage and the silver deal is ‘any age, any mileage’. The garage has to contact the RAC and authorisation before started the repair.

Even a main dealer service department will have to get authorisation from the Manufacturer before starting the repair.
My wife's Honda had a problem with the infamous CTV gearbox five months outside the four year Honda warranty and Honda authorised the replacement of the box FOC as long as we paid the main dealer £100, we did that straight away before they changed their mind.
So insurances do work sometimes but then I insured my disco for the first four years with Land Rover and the only thing to required attention was a leaking £5 pinion oil seal.

Do you have to buy the car from a Land Rover dealer in order to be able to buy the LR warranty? I'm looking at RR this week and it seems all the advice would be to go for the LR warranty.

I can guarantee If you didn’t have any cover you’d pay a lot more than £5 I’d rather pay it then it come round and bite me in the ass!

The only way to get a Land Rover backed warranty is from a main dealer, preowned a year comes FOC and that warranty can be extended at the owners cost, and that's much the same with new, but the free period has been extended now days, it was only one year back when I purchased my RR and disco then it as £1000 to extend.

True very true... also there's LRs labour to add so say two hours at £55ph plus part, plus vat.

I think that they all do but that don't specify where, so it can be any LR main dealer, LR independent or even Kwick Fit or Halfords etc etc.
I will stick to the main dealer during the vehicles warranty period.

Sadly thats not the case
Land rover deny theres an issue with the crankshafts
The warranty company who lr apporve but are not lr themselves dont cover cranks as its a known issue!

Does it mention crankshaft in any way?
