Hi, I've seen on a few disco's instead of having rear seats in the boot they had storage containers on each side with lids, from factory I presume. I don't like the boot seats as never used them and have always removed them on my disco.. but then it leaves an odd looking hole in the trim.
Anyone know if you can get these containers from Landrover or as anyone custom made something?
Pics would be appreciated :)

do u mean something like this

I had the panels on my D1 but at 20+yrs old the plastic was too brittle to hold anything more than my polishing cloths & bottle of windowlene, I put the tow rope in there & as soon as I pressed it down it promptly burst in the middle :(

Exactly them, I did see those ones on ebay but they really do look like sh*t :p
Was hoping you could buy them new or something

don’t they just

think terrafirma done new side lockers but imagine there not cheap

or maybe drawers , have seen them as a way of storage

Could only seem to find them for the defender, but im sure there must be something out there :p

I had them on my first D2 (a 5 seater), really handy for keeping odds & sods in. Unfortunately I could only find 7 seaters for sale when I had to replace it so didn't get the storage bins this time round.
Like the OP, I had looked at swapping the seats for bins, but finding the parts in good nick in the right colour is a big ask.
Wonder if there's any Type Approval issue with taking the rear seats out, like there is with swapping the air springs for coils?
Anyone know the ratio of 5- to 7-seaters produced?

Out of the hundreds of discos I've looked at buying I maybe saw 2 5 seaters
No idea sorry, I don't bother with all that stuff o_O

I wouldn't have thought there is any TA issue with taking them out only if you were putting them in. I think the five seat Disco were spring suspension where the 7 seat have to have air.

I'd be surprised if there was an issue, but there might be some reason I hadn't considered. The seats weigh a ton and it just seems daft carrying them around when I hardly ever use them. I'll keep an eye out for the bins, but my interior is a bit of a weird greeny-grey colour, so probably not many around.

I took mine out and used cool boxes which were a perfict fit. Used nylon webbing to keep them in place fixed to brackets secured to the seat fixing points on the side.

Does look nice, well anything is better than the damn hole left in the trim once you take the seats out... great when I take the seats out the new one I will have... 6 spare rear seats... I get through too many disco's
