Well just an update while I wait for my ride to the airport, I did as Wammers suggested and it's all sorted speak in a few weeks Tony. Now where did I put those old new batteries.​

Remove the battery holder,remove the top battery and stick a little bit of insulation tape on the vertical contact strip so the top battery cannot make contact with it.I'll see if I have time to open up an old fob. The contact is visable with the top battery removed,a little bit of tapeis all that is required. Does this qualify as a How To ? Or are more photos necessary.

Been opening mine handraulically for years, I gave up on all that syncing key malarkey after the dreaded battery drain gremlin escapade a few years back when I removed the RF wire, and as the poor beast is parked up for 9-10 months a year with the battery off. It just became a pain and I don't have that much hair left to pull out.

I think they were Duracell.. I've just tried opening the fob and it won't open and it's chewing plastic... I'll wait until I have to open it to change dead batteries....sorry gold....

Mine's on the same batteries from when I bought it and I doubt they were new then judging from how much maintenance was done elsewhere. Cannot even remember now how long I've had the car. 5 years? Fob still used daily but I think it is getting weaker!
