Hi guys, hope you don't mind, I got a new TV and want to put in 2 new speakers (small ones) and a subwoolfer) I have square ins and outs on the back of my TV how can I make it all fit and work, what do I need? eBay links would be good as I don't have a clue as to what adapters I want, thanks

You’ll need an AV amp to take the sound from your tv using either a hdmi out connection, or optical/digital coax into the AV amp then connect speakers to the amp.
Or for simplicity just use a sound bar
 
OK, And the third one i guess is one of the speakers you want to use?
First off, it looks like those speakers are passive speakers (i.e. they don;t have an amplifier built in) so the signal level at the RCA out's from that ebay box will not drive those speakers. (You would need active speakers or a seperate amp)
The other issue is that to connect a subwoffer that works properly, you need to split the line level signal into it's component parts and feed the low frequencies to the sub and the higher frequencies to the L/R speakers.
Also, if that box is taking the optical audio signal and only giving you the front leaft and front right component, then you will loose a lot of the sound even if you can make it work.
As said above, the best way is an AV Amp or soundbar.

You'd need a 5.1 speaker set too.

The TV has harmen kardon internal speakers, I am told they are a good make (I know little about stereo systems) but I like your kettle... watch TV drink tea.... great lol

There is tons of bass from that there kettle!! I had to turn the bass down to just a third of its output.. woofing like a goodn':eek:;)
 
Sorry, slight hijack, then normal play can resume. As we seem to have the electrical knowledge gathering here. Can anyone tell me where I could order the connectors highlighted in the att'd pic. I broke one of mine ages ago , when trying to check for corrosion and they seem like gold dust to get a hold of.
