OK,

So there is this old 300tdi which apparently the clutch pedal stopped working on.
Cannot engage gear whilst engine is running, clutch pedal makes no difference.
Tried bleeding with no result using the std method.
Taken slave cylinder off and it looks fine there is no leak pass on the seal, dry as a dry thing on a dry day.
Taken M/C off, no obvious faults, changed for a spare whiihc was working when taken off car.

Bled again using reverse procedure , still not working. fluid level rises in reservoir.
Using std bleed procedure no air bubble seen,
When pedal pressed can hear sound of movement ( quiet creak) in bellhousing.

Any further recommendations before further exploration commences?

remove pipe connector at master and use your finger as one way valve till you get fluid moving,then replace the pipe

Thanks James, but if it was that the MC was not pushing fluid,
Would it be case of I would not hear the clutch mech moving in the bellhousing? plus I do get fluid out of the bleed nipple when bleeding.

Sounds like the plate is rusted to the flywheel if I'm understanding you right.

Maybe, but the car was in regular use, and was being driven (as I understand it ) when it failed.

One of those things where when do you stop hoping it will be case of bleeding and become a case of "Darn it" engine out to research more.

Would it be case of I would not hear the clutch mech moving in the bellhousing? plus I do get fluid out of the bleed nipple when bleeding.

Rod was sticking out approx 25mm, give or take, would not push in further, but would allow itself to be pulled out by approx another 15mm, I could hear and feel the clutch fork moving on the end of the rod.

that would seem normal ,has the issue been getting worse ie poor clutch change ,or truck stood awhile

6 million dollar question, Fathers D1, brothers has been driving it for a few months , would not guarantee getting the real world story from brother. So am having to work from scratch and what I see on the car. But car has been used basically daily.

Might be the 'fingers' or springs in the clutch have gone ... I had one on a Sherpa that spat all it rivets one Sunday afternoon after market day trading ...

6 million dollar question, Fathers D1, brothers has been driving it for a few months , would not guarantee getting the real world story from brother. So am having to work from scratch and what I see on the car. But car has been used basically daily.

clutch covers warp meaning clutch will allways drag, release could have collapsed ,if slave appears to be working and is correct one and pedal feels normal next job is box out id think

Can you borrow a pressure bleeder, it'll mean you can alternate main & slave ...

Yep, an internal bell housing issue is what I am thinking as well. Will give it another bleed in the AM as it is now up on car ramps at the front, if no good then Haflords have a gunson eazibleed for a tenner. Will try that if that does not work, Yahooooooooo, I get to use the engine hoist I have in the shed.

Not really MHM , off to halfords now to get the pressure bleeder. Then will see what happens. Plus need to have another look at the D2, but that will be another thread. Fingers crossed the 90 starts once I put the top back on as it has started raining!
