You might want to mention the engine and the year of make - can be important....
"DID YOU KNOW THAT NINETY-SEVEN PERCENT OF ALL LIVING THINGS ON PANDORA AREN'T EXPLODING RIGHT NOW? THAT'S BULLSH*T, BUY TORGUE!"
"A LOT OF PEOPLE BEEN ASKING ME WHY MY VOICE BEEPS ALL THE F*CKIN TIME. THE TORGUE SHAREHOLDERS WIRED MY VOICEBOX WITH A DIGITAL CENSOR SO I CAN'T SAY STUFF LIKE SH*T, C*CK, OR P*SSY F*CKIN' D*CKBALLS! THATS HALF MY F*CKIN' VOCABULARY, IT'S GODDAMN BULLSH*T!"
3 times a charmDo you really need a third thread about this!
thanks mateI would by no means call myself an auto-box expert. Hell, I've only ever driven two vehicles with auto transmission in my life, once for a fortnight and another one for about half an hour. So just for the OP, and in the hope that he doesn't start yet another fred about TC lock-up, I cribbed this out of RAVE:-

I think it's almost impossible to say that the TC should lock at 31.37584 mph in third gear, it appears to depend upon a number of different and varying conditions.
unsure what your issue is buddyRemember to let Mr Torgue know!

I'm guessing I maye have spelled something wrong or miss placed a word .or pi$$ed some one else off in the past ,,,,,if .this is your come back ? LOL I actually feel embarrassed for you ...and I don't think its a wd40 issue maybe a alcohol issue lets get pi$$ed and give some one $hit
I do apologise shutting you down in previous posts (damaging your ego ) ... but in all fairness the engine performance does affect how an auto drives
for engine torque ie mr torque ..can you please explain ? or do I need to hold your hand for this one
thanks mate
my TC doesn't lock up @ 31 mph ..this is when my TC actually unlocks where a few weeks ago it use to unlock just over 37 mph consistently
I actually work in KPH with being over seas so having to use the conversion calculator as I got told by (MJI ) when posting in this section to use MPH
my TC locks up @ 70 kph = 43.496 MPH unlocks at 50 kph = 31.0686 mph
to be honest I have found it very nice using the torque of the engine even up hill at low speeds instead of screaming its hole out and going no where
only a couple of weeks ago my TC has been unlocking differently lock up speeds has not changed its actually unlocking there is a 10 KPH difference to compared what I am use to ..even engine braking there is still a 10 KPH difference of when th TC unlocks and very noticeable on the speedo when working in KPH
It is called a sense of humour, when you mentioned Torgue I instantly thought of Mr Torgue High Five Flexington, yes that is his name.
If you had searched it up you would have understood.
It is a VERY FUNNY TYPO, and it is my duty to make a joke of it.
Now I suggest you try playing some video games, I suggest the Borderlands series, then you will understand, a VERY FUNNY series with bonkers characters.
My sons thought it funny too.
Your autobox is going to have many different points where it can unlock, because it's at the mercy of the engine management. It's not like mine which is soley down to pump pressure which depends on roadspeed and hence it's very specific when it locks and unlocks.
If it's holding on to the converter lock for longer, and unlocking slower that is probably good - its more efficient that way and the change is probably the engine management learning a new set of paramaters - they are somewhat adaptive. My old 7 series BMW which as far as I can recall used the same box in it's 2WD version was the same - if you disconnected the battery it took it a good half hour to re-learn it's changes etc. Unless the convertor is staying locked when you dont (eg on kickdown) or it keeps it locked so much that revs fall to idle then I wouldnt worry.

OK I have stooped down to your wave length and searched his name
seriously you have issues or your the one who has played to many video games ?
and its my duty the next time someone mentions torque I am going to think back about this moment and laugh about a ####wit that thought he was being clever,
try and stay on topic considering your the one who pointed me into this direction... if not go and annoy some one else who you may think that has posted in the wrong section
hopefully the next person also shuts you down like I did
thanks mate

As I said, I'm no auto-box expert, and when I gave you a meaningless figure of 31.37584 mph (50.49451984896 kph) I was trying to say that applying an exact figure to an application such as Torque Converter lock-up or unlock is a totally unworkable premise.
Not only is it impossible to make such comparisons between vehicles, I would venture that it's almost impossible to even make the comparison between the conditions on the same vehicle from day to day or even minute to minute since as I read it, the parameters which would control it; throttlle position, engine speed, operating mode, etc., engine load and even such esoteric things as altitude and ambient temperature can have an effect. That said, I would venture that driving style would have an effect also.
Like the others who have commented on this thread, I would say that you're worrying about nothing. Accept that that's the way it is.
Grab a couple of tinnies, throw another roo-steak on the barby and worry about things you can actually do something about.
no rushThink I'm clever, well apart from the fact I am (I have to be in my job), I also have a strange sense of humour. I think it is sad that modern life is becoming an idiocracy in a rush to the bottom.
Playing games is interactive, a common hobby. I have played various games since the 70s but prefer modern story based games where I can shoot things, it is fun, more fun than just watchng soaps or reality TV (soap and reality TV watchers are the main critics of gamers, never get this from fans of Attenborough documentries, probably because we watch them as well).
As I said before just a sense of humour, I thought Australians had a good one. There is a lot of p155 taking on this site from many people none of it malicious.
And your lock up is working fine, most of them do that. Pretty sure mine does similar.
So relax, do not worry about your car, and remember there are lots of different people with different hobbies, and anything active is better than anything passive, mental active is still active.
The only rudeness in the thread is the fxxkwit comment.
