Had problem with broken wire in tailgate window so ordered a complete mechanism. Fitted that today with window fully up. Soon as I switched on ignition window went fully down. Now it will not budge-up or down. When I press the down button all I get is the 4 gongs. Checked all the fuses. Gone through the disconnect battery etc but nothing happens. Looked up all the online fixes but can't seem to find the answer.
Can anyone help!
Also the rear wash/wipe does not work but I've tested the motor and that's ok.

I presume you mean the tailgate. No it was open most of the time this afternoon-I can't remember if I tried with it closed-I try in the morning-thanks for the tip!

Can also be a problem with the door lock mechanism. There is a microswitch inside it and if the car thinks the door is open the window won't work.

The rear window will NOT move if the rear door is open

Make sure the interior light goes out after you close the boot door. If it doesn't then you probably have a lock mechanism issue. Common fault with lots of threads here about it.

In the end I was trying to get the window to work with the back door open- tried this morning with door closed and IT WORKS!!!-thanks for replies-I probably should have thought of that myself in the first place-DOH

we all make mistakes, I did when I was born I got the wrong body as I think mine
was a used up one
