I'm about buy a 2004 autobiography supercharged, was the chrome grill an option or standard, all the pictures I've seen are with chrome, body wise are they different to standard vogue.

If you think you are about to buy a supercharged 2004 then you are not as they didn't make one until 2006 when jag took over with the 4.2 engine I think it was, the 04 is a BMW 4.4 M62 NA engine. Maybe a late 05 you could get. Is it 4.4 ?
I think chrome grilles are aftermarket on the 04, I am happy to be proved wrong though

I'm with you on 2006 for the Jag 4.2 S/C. Although I think they launched it in the US of Idiots in 2005. No idea on the grille though.
Edited to add, had a look around as was curious and oddly found a '2005' 4.2 S/C Autobiography, over here, weird. Definitely not 2004 though.

yes its a 4.4, the checks I've done none show it as a SC.

It's the same as mine, it's a BMW M62 engine, dozens of them on eBay with failed timing chain guides as they appear to fail around the 120 k miles onwards and in my opinion more often when LPG fitted.
I think the site WWW.LRPARTS.RU will show you all the different models and parts but I'll have a look later if you like as the site can be tricky to get used to

I'm always perusing Range Rovers on the bay and a while back I noticed an L322 advertised as a 4.4 BMW S/C, the ad was lacking any proper detail so I relegated it to the rubbish bin part of my brain where I throw things like images of P38s butchered to look like L322 or Sports.
L322s with so called upgraded look with the fake facelift grill also get consigned to my memory bin, after a little chuckle and roll eyes.

The fake facelift grille where the headlamp wipers sit at an angle is horrendous I think.
Mine has a supercharger type grille but not the one that overlaps the lights.

I'm not familiar with the RR as I drive a 90 td5 and renovating a 60 S2, the guy selling it seems a bit of nob it had the SC badges on maybe he was told that what it was when he bought it. I'm certain he's genuine but he can't find any of the paperwork or V5 so waiting for a replacement to check things. Will post again with more details.
Is the Autobiography different body wise?

If they're telling porkies about it being S/C, perhaps you should be doing thorough checks to ensure it is an autobiography. A couple of minutes on a search engine will tell you everything you need to know.
Just read your post ref no documents, no V5, and maybe he thought or was told it was supercharged. Walk away, in fact run away now. It sounds as dodgy as a dodgy thing, on a dodgy day,in a dodgy place. If you truly want a Supercharged Autobiography, take the time to research the model and the trim. That way you won't be screwed the way this guy seems to be trying to do to you.
I know I already said it but it's worth saying again, spend a couple of minutes on a search engine, and research the vehicle you want to buy. Google in this instance IS your friend.

The checks just say Land Rover Range Rover 4.4 n/a which is not S/c, not what model. Is there a difference in the body between vogue and Autobiography?

Seriously mate you need to do a little bit of the work yourself. We've already saved you being ripped off on this one and as I've already said 3 or 4 times, spend some time doing research on the vehicle your interested in. A search on this site will bring up the info you need, google or bing or any other search engine, will also bring it up.

I am not sure but the Autobiography means it was made to a customised spec for the original owner but I am not even sure they offered that in the early years but possible. It would only effect things like trim, leather colour, wood colour and the like, i don't think there was much difference to the outside. maybe things like TV screens in the rear and the harmon kardon sound system would be classed as autobiography. i only know of the vogue and HSE with the vogue having all the tricks like heated seats and TV in the front and then there are optional extras you could add but I am not sure those extras constitutes calling it an Autobiography. I imagine there would be Autobiography stated somewhere on the paper work.
Above all i would be very cautious as GR pointed out, these vehicles come with enough problems even when everything is open and honest, no V5 and the confusion over the S/C and spec would have me really concerned. there are hundreds for sale, i bought the first one I saw that ticked all the boxes i knew about, have a search on here, there are dozens of boxes you don't even think of that need ticking

Thanks for that, I can't seem to find much to tell the difference will have to do a more thorough search when I see the V5.

As for my input I have never , on this site, ever overestimated my input on anything. But you, my dear sir, have most definitely not put your fair share of effort in to find the information you require. It takes one word on the search bar here to find what an autobiography is, it takes four words in any search engine to find out all about the S/C.
You were given assistance and pointed in the exact direction of how to find out everything you need to know about what you hoped to buy.
So please excuse me if I feel that ,myself and HC, having told you that the vehicle you are about to buy is not what you believed it to be ,has saved you from being ripped off. If you think paying a premium on a standard vehicle,with a couple of £4 stickers , is not being ripped off, then so be it. Please , also, continue to expect others to do all the research for you, and to save you from your chosen ignorance, every time someone tries to sell you a lemon.Especially as you seem unable to smell dodgy when you are standing next to it.
OR you could say thanks to both, or either of us, ( especially HC) and do a little bit of research, so you are armed with the necessary knowledge next time someone tries to sell you a vehicle with no paperwork, no proof of ownership and lies about it's spec.
Do enjoy your Range Rover when you buy it and I hope you get what it says on the tin.

Thanks. The way I see it is that the internet has every bit of information you will ever need, except why do the Kardashians want such massive butts?! Thus the way I do it is, search, ask, search again when pointed in right direction, learn everything I can from sources indicated. Then I have the info in my head or on a notepad, the next time I need it.
I have always been grateful for the information I've been given on here( and try to give back) but have never expected the guys and girls to do all the work.
Still different strokes for different folks.
