Mercedes G Wagon? Jeep Wrangler?

Are these alternatives worth looking at. My friend wants a 4x4 but it has to be new for lease purposes.

G Wagon costs a fortune. Looks like a Defender without the personality or design flair. But is it any good. Jeep Wrangler, l have no idea. I once drove a 1990's one and it was terrible. Had something like 4.0 litre engine but was dog slow. And the dash made a Defender 90 look like quality.

If they want a 4x4, there are other vehicles in the LR basket that will do the job.......

Cheers

How dare he mention alternative, moderator suspend this man for one month with a bar of soap to wash out the filth. Any true Christians near start cleansing the webpages :mad:

New Hilux is pretty nice. Though tbh if I had to choose another 4x4 that isnt an LR it would be a G-Wagon.

@biggeeeee ,

If we are talking unavailable alternatives then surely the Talbot Rancho ( albeit , it was not 4x4 ) Should be on for a shout.....:D

Cheers

Forerunner for the Discovery that thing, amazing similarity. (Rancho)

Fiat Panda 4 x 4 should also be considered as an alternative.
Not seen one yet, sleeping on its side ;)

Anybody owned a G Wagon or Wrangler? Do not worry won't be swapping my two Defenders.
But there's a Jeep lives near me, and a couple of G-Wagons and l just wondered what they were like.
lt's unlikely my friend will stretch to a G-Wagon, the lease payments are nearly £1,000 per month.
The Jeep is under £500.

I'd go G-wagon if had to choose something else to a Defender although I'm getting to like the new Ford Raptors alot lately :)
