i have booked my Christmas trip to Germany,Austria (Munich, Salzburg).

I dont know whether the default tyre is All season tyre or should i be changing the tyres to Winter tyre as it is a legal requirement in Germany.

i have 06 reg.

thanks

From the AA:
You must not use summer tyres in Germany during winter weather conditions

standard tyres fitted in the UK are generally summer tyres.
Germany’s winter tyre regulation applies to all motorised vehicles using roads in Germany including those registered abroad.
Winter weather conditions include black ice, snow, ice, slush and frost which may be present even if the temperature is above 0C.
Winter, or all season tyres designed for use in wintry conditions will normally be marked with ‘M+S’, a snow flake or snowy mountains symbol.
Some 'M+S' tyres sold in the UK are summer tyres and would not meet the German requirements so we recommend checking with your tyre supplier or manufacturer if you are
unsure.
If your car is only fitted with summer tyres you cannot drive in winter weather conditions and could be fined €60 just for doing so and €80 if you actually obstruct traffic.
You could also be prevented from continuing your journey unless you get the tyre s changed or the weather conditions improve.
You must not use spiked tyres.

@newpreludeking , As you say default tyre in your OP. Have you still got the original tyres in place?

I would have thought they would have been changed by now. I suggest you could take a picture of the sidewalls and put on here for more info.

Or contact a good reputable tyre supplier , or even the tyre distibutor and get the correct information.

Cheers

My winter tyre's show the snow flake symbol reminds me I need to get them onto the rims as I took them off in the spring.

The current marking for tyres rated for winter conditions, such as those demanded by some European countries including Germany must carry the European standard 3PASF (three peaks and snowflake) symbol in addition to the M+S marking:

The symbol is shown in yellow for clarity.
Any other marks or symbols might not be valid or accepted in some countries. Check with your tyre specialist for more details.

thanks for all the replies

Tyre size is 225/55/R17

this looks like new tyre is required?
