hi all I'm after a bit of info if anyone knows the answer.
Is there any turbos from other vehicles that would be compatible to fit the td4 (bmw m47) engine as I'm short in cash right now and need to be back on the road as soon as possible. Any advice would be great as I'm in dire straits. Many thanks

It's a very short answer. No. The Freelander's turbo is unique to the Freelander.

It let go and fed oil back into air inlet

Failed seals then.
You can pick up a non OEM CHRA for the GT1749V turbo for around £90. You can rebuild it cheaply with that

Fitting a CHRA into a turbo isn't a particularly difficult job. Getting the turbo off so it can be rebuilt is more of a challenge. It's in a difficult place to get at, but it's not impossible. There's a How To guide on here somewhere, on turbo removal
