Hello,

I might be being completely stupid but i cant seem to find the dip stick on my v8.
There is a chance its missing, as the engine is a transplant.
The car is a 90 and the v8 is from an SD1.
Could someone tell me where i should be looking for the dip stick, or where it should be?
Also could anyone point me in the right direction to what part id need to order if its missing.

Thanks in Advanced

The tube should be inserted into the passenger side of the block just above sump and supported at the top by a p clip and unc set screw further up

Yeah i'm 99% sure its missing then, would it come up on one side of the exhaust manifold?
Yes. If you have an oddball sump, i have seen them fabricated on to the sump itself. If it is missing then is the hole for the insert not plugged? You are looking for a near vertical hole about 8-10mm dia where i said earlier

Scratch that, they are usually supported by a p clip and philips screw into the rocker cover

Next time I get a chance I'll have a look. I currently have no idea how much oil is in it. It isn't dripping any on the drive so it could be empty
