So when I was looking through the parts catalogue for front springs and the gubbins to go with them I saw nrc3472 which I think are called spring slipper plates. Now there were none fitted when I took it to bits so I didn't know that they existed. My question is whether you need them or not? Paddocks and Craddocks don't seem to sell them. Other sellers list them but don't have stock. They go between the springs and the 'feet' on the axle. What do you all think?

Not familiar to me. I'm going to look at the parts diagram but not at all sure what purpose it has. Mmmmmm.

I searched on tinterweb and the suggestion is that they are supposed to stop wear on the top leaf of the spring from the foot on the axle casing. I suppose this slipper plate has raised edges on it's shorter ends so there is no edge to dig into the spring if it moves back and forth but is this really likely to be an issue anyway? The more I think about it the less inclined I feel to bother with them. There weren't any fitted before and there was no sign of a wear pattern developing in the spring. Also these were Britpart springs which are alleged to be made to the poorest standards so if it can't damage them then it can't be too much ofa problem.
