Im about to take delivery of my new 90 V8!

Its an absolute shed but it was cheap. So i now have some spare cash to repair and improve.

So i need ideas and recommendations.

The bulkhead is in need of repair or possible replacement so i'm thinking replacing it with an actual v8 bulkhead and having proper v8 tunnel floors etc. If i do this then i will be replacing gear box as it is currently a 4 speed manual, which i think is from s series.

So my question is what would you do?

if you were going to replace the bulkhead, would you change the gear box (thinking r380) and transfer box?

also a general question what would be the mid-top end value of a 1986 90 v8, its not a factory v8, think its from a disco. I ask because i want that to be the limit of what i spend on it.

Thanks

i will try get some pictures uploaded later this week, its a bit of a mess right now, need to dig out the paint roller.

Could you someone help me figure out where the v8 came from? I assume its from a disco or an RR, but all i know far is its a high compression engine on SU Carbs. The gear box is a 4 speed and in 1994 but gear was refurbed and the engine was replaced with another v8.

Also when the gearbox was refurbed also has an over drive listed. Anyone seen overdrive on a 90 before?

Thanks

If it's a high compression V8 on carbs it may well be from a rover Sd1, did they have 4 speed boxes + O drive? maybe.

Sounds like a hotchpot V8s 3.5 had su carbs after 87 before that strombergs gearbox lt85 Santana or lt90 lt77. Didn't the series 111 v8 have lt90 4 gear. If the bulkhead is shot then replace with the original and adapt unless your willing pay for conversion back to the original setup.

Im thinking of trying to repair the bulk head, seems like a lot off hassel to replace it. The rust is in all the usual places should easily get repair panes for it.

So if the engine is probably post 87 and rebuilt in 94 would that mean it would still require a lead additive? Where can i look to get the engine number, guessing that will answer alot of these questions?

also as far as im aware the SD1

Thank you,

So its a v8 from an SD1 Manual with a compression ratio of 9.35:1.

One thing i do need help on - I need a clutch slave cylinder but i cant find which one it is exactly.

The gear box is LT95 (99% Sure now). Can anyone let me know which would be the right part?

Ive seen a few that look like this, but they're for the lt77 - http://www.johncraddockltd.co.uk/la...series-3-90110-lt77-4-cylinder-and101-fc.html

And is it worth paying more for Genuine than aftermarket, when the price is £9 vs £60 ish?
