My Disco 2 gives quite a loud knock from the rear when I go round corners.
Is this a watts linkage problem or something else?

could be or roll bar links etc, hold each arm in turn whilst someone rocks the car you will feel were the play is
As James says, anti-roll bar links tend to be the usual culprit as they get water in the joint and rust.
Watts linkages seem to last pretty well, ours has nearly 180k on it and still going strong.

Thanks for the advice, I'll try the ARB links. The car has done 128k miles so I suspect there may be a bit of wear somewhere.

I've finally had a look at the Watts linkage and found that the link containing the 3 bushes is at quite an angle; I'm guessing about 30 degrees from vertical and the arms have ended up almost touching it. I've got a 2 inch lift on the car which probably hasn't helped; I think the solution is to get the arms shortened by an inch to give it more clearance (or put the old suspension back). I'll try and take a picture of it to show what I mean.

It's not the watts linkage that's making the knock but the rear anti-roll bar tie-rods. It is a ball and socket type link at the top of each one and the left hand one is popping out when I turn left and snapping back when I turn right.

it often is ,you need a 18mm and 16mm spanner a 6 mm allen key but grinding the link off is often easier

Yikes! I was hoping it was going to be an easy job! Sparks and petrol are probably not favourable companions in this case!
