Well its a week since I changed the fuel filter housing on the Td5. The tank is now well below 3/4 full and I have not experienced any poor starting due to air in the system, the continuous cranking and a noisy fuel pump.
All I can conclude is either :-
(A) That little orange bladder valve in the housing I mentioned last week was allowing leak back as it was deformed.
(B) The actual filter housing had become porous. I must add that it was extremely fragile on removal and the metal snapped around the bolts. Seemed to be made of some metal alloy and cast....not very good at withstanding the harsh conditions on the underside of a Defender.
Whatever it was all I can say is that new injector seals had no effect, a new fuel pump was a waste of money and if the same happens to you just consider changing your fuel filter housing as I really do feel that this is the source of many of our problems guys and girls...hope this helps some of you. PLEASE ONLY BUY A GENUINE PART, BUY CHEAP BRITPART RUBBISH AND BUY TWICE AS THEY ARE NOT ALL THEY SEEM THATS WHY THEY ARE CHEAP!
