anyone got a good one for pumping tyres up, I have tried many makes over the years including ring, Michelin and they never seem to last long in terms of actual use - I guess heat dissipation is the problem - I can get the big compressor out at home but that is a bit of a fag.

its more for pumping up a slow puncture to get home without having to change a wheel at the roadside, topping up tyres etc

Take a look at the T-Max range of portable compressors.
I use the basic one, 72 litres per minute, 150 psi max, 12 volt operation, metal construction.
I haven't had any problems with it ....... yet.

i was forced into buying an el cheapo argos one when i got a flat in a carpark.. that was over 15 years ago and it still works! bit slow now though.. must get a new one.

We bought one of the single cylinder models from Paddocks, plugs into the trailer batteries or connect to the Discovery battery. Extension lead gives us reach all round vehicle and trailer. 10 wheels plus 3 spares when we are out with the big trailer and Disco.

ive had on of those for a good few years ,handy bit of kit ,my only issue is the wire were it enters motor body

Same on mine, I've tidied it up once, probably needs a rubber lined cable clip somewhere else to restrict the movement through the cable grip on the body.

thanks for the replies chaps, have a ring at the mo that has popped its mortal coil not sure which model it is though, will check out the tmax but the paddocks one looks a good bit of kit, like the look of that

I doubt that you'll ever find the part number for a replacement mortal coil for your pump so it looks like it'll have to be a new unit.

The Paddocks and the T-Max do look to be fairly similar.

I've had a few over the years, both 12v from the cig. lighter variety & cordless, none of them last long - total waste of money.
My answer is my late father's Dunlop (brass body) foot-pump from the 1940's (having replaced the leather washer) or a cheapo version from Halfrauds that I can chuck away when it falls apart after a couple of years.

ring 700 does look good, looking at the tmax twin cylinder one on amazon with reduced price hopefully not because it is rubbish

I got a Draper one from a car boot sale for a couple of quid a few years ago. You'd expect it to be rubbish but it's actually ok. You just can't be in a hurry though!

I've got one of the T-max ones hard wired into the Landy. Works a treat. Solid construction. Can't fault it.
