What would be a realistic total price of buying a rear crossmember with extensions and having it welded on by a competent garage? Thanks

All depends on what the garage charge per hour I got mine done for £150 by a local guy who had done about 20 of them plus his own so I trusted him.

That seems pretty cheap bud, I would have said nearer 3-400 quid as it's pretty labour intensive as you'd have to strip the rear suspension down if you're fitting one with extensions and no doubt they'd try and flog you new shocks and springs whilst they're at it

I paid someone £180 to fit mine. He too had done a great job on his own Defender. For that price he primed, painted and under sealed all of the affected areas.

Yeah same here primed and undersealed mine to and fitted new bushes and spring hangers to. But agree with you to rob I did have quotes around the 325 mark if I can remember. Plus once he had seen my pressbrake crossmember he ordered 5 of them for stock.

Days work for most people, so you can work out rough cost from there.
I fitted my pressbrake one, excellent quality, plus I had it galved before fitting.

I paid closer to £500 for a supply and fit, that was about 5 years ago. Total rip off, as usual for Norn Iron.
