Td6 is the most reliable of the various engines IMO. The TdV8 is a monster, but it's not without turbo problems which kind of replace the gearbox problems. The petrols are no better than the LR V8 for reliability IMO and much harder to work on.Although I know you like to sign about your love of the L322, is there any engine guise that you would say is the 'best' of all L322 evils?
You've got to love a vehicle where carrying around diagnostic equipment at all times is a must. If you're looking at any Chuckie L322 then you're looking at a 10+ year old vehicle. Given the types of owners of these vehicles, at that age range, you'll struggle to buy one that has been well maintained. So regardless of how good they could be, you'll need a few grand spare to fix the inevitable problems the old owner didn't want to.

Faultmate MSV 2 ExtremeI'm thinking of a TDV8 myself in a few months. Currently thinking of what would be the best diagnostics gear to cover both, since Nanocom doesn't seem to cover pre-2010 L322's.
