I have a nut leftover

Hi all,
Never owned a landy before.
We've been to look at a couple of Td5 Disco's today, both the same price, same milage, same spec. Both are 51 reg with 60 - 66,000 miles. One metallic red, the other a dark metallic silver.
I noticed on the silver one that the button on the dash for raising the rear suspension for off road use was looking well used, ie; the grey plastic on the button was that worn that it was showing the yellow plastic below, also the door speaker mesh is rusting.
The red one looked a lot cleaner inside, off road rear suspension raisy button thingy isn't worn at all.
Only thing is that the step for getting into the back doesn't lift itself back up, and when you pull it up, it flops back down.
Would you say that heavy wear on the rear raise button is a sign of lots of off road usage. If so, would you say that the red one (much cleaner looking interior) would be the better buy?
Also, any tips on what sort of thing I should pay particular attention to would be greatly appreciated.
