My afternoon just got longer

Time for some tea.

Drunk the tea and now got this

Easy enough fix. Clean it all up and bolt the stat housing back on, use it as a drilling guide to centre the old broken stud. (you will need a drill the same size as the housing holes) Once you have a good centre go in with the tapping drill and remove the stud/retap.
I use left hand spiral drills for this kind of job and the stud sometimes screws out when drilling.

Also put some cloth into the waterway before drilling, to keep swarf out.

Heat the casting and then try to turn the stud out.

Well got the long bit out but damaged the thread at the head. Driilled it through and will fit a long bolt and nut.
