I am looking at buying a new pair of - 2" turrets as my new Terrafirma springs are not fully compressing or expanding ( + 2" lift kit ) with my std turrets and std rear upper shocker mounts, i really wanted to go with Terrafirma as all my suspension parts are Terrafirma but they are too expensive so i have been looking at both Venom and Adrenalin ones the venom ones are tubular ones which i like and the adrenalin ones are more solid looking but can't decide which ones to go for so thought i would ask you guys which is best between the two

I am also ordering Terrafirma rear upper ( lowered ) shocker mounts aswell just incase you are wondering

I went with the Paddocks own ones. For the price (and the fact that they turned out to be britpart) they are actually very solid.

I went with standard height, but these are the lowered ones:

I also went for the standard tubular galvanised turrets, no issues so far and they've been on just over a year.

Tbh these look better than the other's i have mentioned so will probably go with these, its funny i never gave paddocks a thought and they are normally the first place i look at

Almost bought the venom turrets few weeks back I like the look of them also elite 4x4 have some rather nice ones ,not sure if they do the -2" but defo do the standard height.

Hmm...I've bought the Terrafirma +2" shocks and coils but not at the fitting stage yet. So, what turrets do I need to get then? I'm confused.

It mite depend on what kit you have bought my kit TF204 is a heavy load kit as i wanted to cover everything i want to do with my 90 ie towing, carrying 6 x peeps inc driver plus fishing gear, and of course off roading / green laning inc having a winch bumper and at some point a front winch fitted.

so with mine being for heavy load when off roading the springs are not compressing and expanding as they should as the shocks that are part of the kit are stopping the springs from doing this with std turrets and upper shock mounts fitted so by fitting shorter ( - 2" ) turrets and rear upper shock mounts this should sort it or at least allow the springs to work better.

so if your kit is a softer kit ( light load / off road ) you should be ok as is, hope this helps

Your springs aren't compressing because you have a heavy duty kit not because of the shocks. Shocks would determine where travel ends in either direction.

Dropped turrets would mean up travel runs out earlier not helping your compression issue.

If you have +2 shocks as well as springs standard length turrets are fine

This is a learning curve for me as i have never had a terrafirma kit before so i have sort of worked out with help off here by fitting - 2" upper shock mounts and turrets this should sort the problem i have out if not i will have to decide wether to get softer springs or fit longer shocks but i will see how i get on with the - 2" idea first then go from there as i am half thinking the kit i have bought is the wrong kit for what i want it for but we will see

I'd never fit HD springs for offroading

HD are good for consistant heavy loads if thats what you're doing more.

LR's are designed at carry loads, tow, carry a full load of people as standard everything is about comprimise

If you want an all out offroad spring fit light duty

If you want to carry paving slabs. Or expedition gear constantly or are constantly loaded fit heavy Duty

If you want to do abit of everything fit medium duty.

fitting lower mounts on the rear was done as a cheap way to increase drop from standard shock absorbers, as your already going to fit longer shocks you can use the existing rear mounts, by fitting the -2 mounts you will be limiting the actual space there is for the spring to compress, but with heavy duty springs your not going to compress much anyway
