I want to fit a cover and hoops to my sankey wide track trailer so it can carry more stuff (under a cover surprisingly)

Does anyone know what type of hoops I need? Do ones off a hi cap fit?

I was going to fit a wolf roll cage that i have kicking about but i think thats going to go in my 110 instead :)
 
choof off keeping trying to buy my stuff. its not for sale. Its going in me 110!

I found the info I needed. A set of 109 sticks and canvas will fit with a bit of persuasion :)

I had to 'nip' the sticks in slightly on the Narrow track.... So you may find the wide track fits even better.

Opened four holes up in the top rail with a cone cutter to allow the sticks to sit in and a middle hoop bolted through its foot into the top rail.
4 spreaders/braces out of 15mm copper pipe and jobs a good Un.
 
just got to find a set of cheap hoops and canvass for a not extorionate price - stuffs going for mega bucks on ebay!
 
Well I cant find what I am after for this job. So I think I am going to have to make a heavy duty set of hoops.

Im thinking some 42.4mm CHS for the hoops and braces and I will notch them etc to suit. I want a canvas cover so thinking an exmoor trim 130 hicap cover.

Then I want 4 no. tubes sticking up with fasteners to mount the roof tent on top of this. (so I will have to have the canvas modified to fit around these)

Ive got a tube bender in the garage (but never used it) Do the bottle jack and die ones produce reasonable bends or do you have to use a spring on the inside to stop the wall collapsing?

If I was you I'd buy the cover first and then construct the frame to fit its attachment points. That'll define what you need.

I've bent a few pipes in my time and my experience tells me it's something you just have to try out. Sacrifice a short length and see how acute a bend you can put in it without creasing or kinking it. I've been pleasantly surprised what can be achieved with iron heating pipe and one of those jack-in-a-frame benders. Or for thin walled stuff, one of those things for bending steel electrical conduit. Get bending and see what happens.

We made a cover many years ago for a series 2 forward control truck bed with a discarded lorry tarpaulin and 1/2" iron heating pipe bent to shape. Turned out reasonably well too.
 
ill give it a go. Biggest faff is picking up the pipe from the steel stockist haha.
 
I've recently fitted an Exmoor Trim tonneau cover to the back of a friend's 110 double cab (very nicely made, lovely fabric) and that had seams stitched into it to accept the metal tubes, so that defined where you needed to fit them to the truck bed sides. So get the cover first and make the frame to fit, if it doesn't sound too back to front.
 
Just a standard ex mili 3/4 tilt over 3 standard series hoops two (Front/rear ones are rear hoops that drop into holes cut in top rail of Sankey middle one is standard middle hoop that bolts through top rail )
And some 15mm copper plumbing tube to make side braces ....Piece of marine ply at front to close that end off ....
Rear flap laces up pretty much same as if on a series .

Antennas are standard Clansman 2 sections mounted on wing mounted TUUAM's and extended side mounts (Standard length ones are ...standard BUT I happened on the extended ones at the right price .)
