Hi, can someone help with this tricky one?

I have a 57 plate (September 2007) RR Vogue 67k and i seem to have a issue with the lights, during the day lights off, the reversing lights work as they should, at night lights on dip beam revering lights work as they should, however when main beam is on the reversing lights come on to, odd??
if I flash the lights pulling the light stork, as to let some one past the revering lights do NOT come on.

I have hid lights in the light cluster, when main beam is on, both the hid and the standard eliminate, this happens LH and RH clusters, when I do a 'passing flash' Only the standard is used LH and RH.

anyone have any ideas, i am guessing doggy connection somewhere giving a back emf or the light control module (LCM) could be dickey.

All lights are controlled via the LCM which is located on the drivers side A pillar....it has been known to get wet!

Whip out the LCM (its a tight squeeze) and check it and its connections over for water/damp/corrosion....

Note: if you do need a replacement you WILL need to get it changed over using diagnostics as the LCM stores vehicle information and this needs to be copied over from the original!

Have you swapped out any lights for LED bulbs, that can make it do some crazy things?

thanks chaps, I will take out the lcm and put it in the tumble drier to night and see if that makes a difference,

i haven't changed any bulbs i only got the beast middle of December so i will also check that out

i put in LED number plate lights and after 6 months my warning display starting pinging off every minute with new light bulb failures that weren't actually out, indicators flashing at double speed, turned out to be a failing LED which was overheating and burning out the PCB.
Do you have access to diagnostics, I don't think allcomms works on your year of car but others will point you in the right direction as to what to get.

Easy answer is to cut the wire to the reversing lights, run a new wire to a switch on the dash

Well chaps, still have the issue, my investigations are starting to dry up. I did take out the LCM and popped it out from its box, mmmmm lots of bits of corrosion on components (green bits) heat sinks also manky, spent a bit of time cleaning gapes between legs on the chips and bits and bobs, some of the components looked like they could do with a dab of re soldering, but thought better of that at this stage. Put it back in, and low and behold ...... still the same. . still trying to fathom.

anyone know if the IIDtool made by GAP can do much with the LCM or if i get a new LCM can i transfer the data from the old to the new with it.???

If you have that much corrosion inside the LCM, what state are the connectors in? LCM may well be fecked as it has obviously been wet.

Yep Think i am going to have to get a new LCM.

was also looking at the reversing light circuit, but all the Workshop manuals seem to avoid the bit that links the box to the LCM, i seems to be done i-bus or k-bus within the CAN-bus stuff.


What happened to the good old positive switch mounted on the box and put the lights on when you wanted to go backwards ??


just ordered the IIDtool so should be able to find more cracking issues

may see if i can stick an old one in and see if the issue goes!!
