Hey guys, I have got myself a 300tdi from a defender to replace my old 2.5td as part of a rebuild. I see a lot of information on this conversion but it mainly deals with 300tdis from discoveries.
I am planning to mount the R380 onto the LT77 mounts and weld new engine mounts, from what I understand this will move the engine about 2 inches back from its factory position, so I will need to extend a few pipes, modify exhaust etc. Is this true of defender 300tdis? Are they pretty much the same dimensions etc ? Thanks.

The reason that nearly all write ups are from a discovery is the mayhoosive price difference between a scrap disco and a scrap defender. The gearbox levers are different on discoveries but you can buy and adapter kit for this but the engines are the same.

How much did you pay for your 'defender' 300tdi?

What would it take to put the gearbox in the correct position? Replacement mounts? Keeps everything standard then.....

its the same engine bar the edc option ,temp senders differ though
