Possibly a turbo seal on it's way home. If it was EGR sticking open you would get serious power loss and black smoke from over fuelling, because there would not be enough good air in the charge to burn it properly.
There is normally a little oil in the turbo pipes but check for it being really excessive. If it's burning turbo oil they will be swimming in it. When did you last clean the intercooler out?

And believe us you don't want much of that oil to burn in your turbo or you've got yourself a run away!
Doesn't burn in the turbo Will, turbo blows oil into the manifold and the engine runs off it's sump oil that is a runaway.

And with nearly 10 liters of oil that could run away for hours (obviously it would break before it used it all but you know)

Yeah you would certainly find out if all the nuts and bolts were tight or loose as the case maybe very quickly. Can be stopped with a Stanley knife pretty quickly if you're brave enough.

Yes if you cut the hose and lifted it so it was not blowing into the manifold. It would certainly slow it down some.
