Early D2 TD5's didn't have a cat as they didnt 'need one' they were such a clean running diesel for their time, until later when emission rules got stricter.
Around 2002 onwards i think they came out the factory with a cat, so yours may be one of the last non-cat's.
Therfore in theory, early D2's will pass MOT's no probs, however later ones 'could' fail if the cat have been removed.

Nope, the TD5's, think all the V8's had cats.

Guy I bought it from had it from new and it was the original one on it when I bought it this year, he claims never to have replaced it and when I removed it to do a bit of welding it was a Land Rover original.
On my 51 plate again its the factory fitted original
Checked Microcat for each chassis number and no cat listed for either

To the OP - give a Landy dealership your VIN and they should be able to obtain a printout of the specs for your disco when it left the production line. (My 2001 D2 TD5 says "non-catalyst" )

Plus, my 54 plate was definitely fitted with a cat at the factory.
MOT stations now have to link with the VOSA server and this will tell them whether or not a cat was fitted at the factory. If it was, then the car must have one by law and should fail its MOT if a cat is not present.
However, if your Tester is "One Of Us" (as I keep saying), and you promise to say that the cat was fitted AFTER the last MOT in the unlikely event of your being caught, then a blind eye will be turned to this item which in no way effects the safety or road worthiness of the car.
