I play football on Friday nights and was getting into the Disco when one of the lads was parked next to me . He had a giggle and said "Thats an old thing aint it and my god I bet its ****e ! " ....... I said its a Series I 300TDi , registered 6 days after the Series II went on sale in 1998 , I've had it six years , it got wrote off 3 years ago (Cat D) , got paid out more than I paid for it , bought it back for £370 , its passed every MOT second time , I've fitted a full timing belt kit for less than £100 ,fitted one new battery £55 , one oil pressure switch £7 , front crankshaft oil seal £2 , a water pump £22 , reseasled the sunroof drainage £0 , Insurance cost's less than £270 per year , I've off roaded it , towed my 1800kg Caravan all over the country , it carries me the wife and two kids everywhere, does about 28 mpg around town/work commute , about 33mpg on a run , towed many many cars out of the snow , jumped started many cars at work with it , it starts every time , only let me down once because of said battery ........... yeah its been a nightmare !!! ........

He was getting into his new(ish) Audi A6 ........ I asked him about his car , "How much did that thing cost ya ?" Just over 10 grand he said , on finance ? Yeah he replied ........ had much trouble ? Erm yeah , an injector went and cost me £500 in total to have it sorted ,..... owt else ? Yeah leaks water in somewhere and not been able to find out where ! ........How much does it cost to insure ??? ............. Its a 2.0 Turbo Diesel and its dead quick so its classed as a sports saloon ........ how much then ? ......... About £500 per year .......... So I look at him with a smile and he says ........... I've turned into an Audi snob aint I ?? ......... I nod and smile politely

A couple of days ago an Audi tity arrived near the boot of my car at a high speed, I was doing the speed limit, it then passed me but I caught it up each time at lights, It straight lined mini roundabouts never indicated and sped off every time......
It then drove into the police station and parked in the area where they park their private cars!!

It's ok , I'm sure the Audi knob will be stuck in the snow somewhere soon. Reminds me of last year , Me & my Mrs were driving about in the snow in our disco 300tdi when we come across a plastic pig (bmw x5) sideways blocking the road. I asked if they wanted to be pulled out ?

After pulling out the plastic pig , I said you should've got a land rover. The snobby cow said "we did think about it but they are for old people " to which I replied "Well lucky for you this old ####er pulled you out " I'm 38 by the way.

Not all Audi owners are snobs!!!!! I've got an A5 and Fender 90 300 and I know which one to use to suit what I'm wanting to do or the weather is doing. Funnily enough the A5 owners manual states that it has insufficient ground clearance for off road use

I test drove a BMW X5 and it was soulless, bland and forgetable, then test drove a Discovery 2 which I bought. The D2 doesn't even feel slower either despite being 400cc smaller

I work in the oil industry , i drive 10year old french vans bought cash most of the time, cycle to work as much as i can and in my spare time i work on my 90

All my colleagues play golf and have 2.0tdi audis or vws they they spend a day or 2 a week working to pay for + 3 hours a day sitting in traffic. im apparently the mental one !

I love my Land Rovers but I also love my Audi's, I only have an interest in the pre 'A' Series Audi's and all of the ones I own are quattro except 1.
They have their place but nothing will substitute a good Land Rover...
