Now and then when I try to start all I get is a "click".
The battery is fully charged.
A few times putting the headlights on has meant it starts.
From the forums here it seems this is a problem with the solenoid connectors, but no one has mentioned this link with the headlights.

Before I start on finding and cleaning the solenoid, does anyone have any other suggestions?

PS Can I just clean the solenoid, I don't have to replace/renew anything on the starter motor do I (some threads seem to link these two things)

Thanks in advance

Check the spade connector first on the thin wire (live feed to the starter motor solenoid) - sometimes it loses connection and just needs a push in....happened to me a couple of times.

Don't know about any connection to the headlights being on though.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.
Got the motor off and it rattled quite a bit.
Chose to put an exchange one in as thought the wear was probably beyond my fixing.
Cheers

Yep ...they still visit the crab pool every year ...but they don't seem to get any older :)
