Project has finally begun!!!!!
It's going to be built externally to 1979/80 trim spec.
Might keep the Wolfrace WT5s on it as I've learnt that they were a standard wheel for the customs cars of the 70s and 80s.
Dash will be 1980 aircon spec. Seats, post 86 two door.
Drivetrain is uprated ZF mates to an AMG 5.5
In the mean time, I bought this absolute minter yesterday:

Sounds like an interesting project but I can't see why you'd want so much power in a car that is pretty poor handling. I'd fit an NA Jag V8, plenty of power and the range will be far better than the same car fitted with a supercharged engine.

Hi. The AJ unit was the original choice but it's messy to fit as you need to cut bulkhead to get it to sit so that it is not sticking mass infront of the axle. And it's a very deep engine and you need to jack it up so as to clear the front running gear. I had made the assumption that if they could be fitted into Defenders then it should be easy to fit to a Rangie but even talking to JE I learned this was not the case. Too many engineering compromises.
It has been the discovery of this early in the project that part stalled it.
The M112 engine is SOHC and 90 Degree V. It's not a tall engine and no wider than the RV8. In fact that was the big surprise, it's smaller in many dimensions.
The M113 is the Kompressor and that is overkill. The NA unit has 400 FT/LBS and around 360 bhp which is bang on for what I want. In fact the BHP will be higher as all the cars and flow restrictions will have been removed.
The car will be lowered to the standard running air height of the air sprung cars so about 20mm and rollbars and suitable dampers fitted. It's not going to be a Lotus though.

Thanks. It seems to be a minter. Only superficial rust where you'd expect rot. Needs an upper tailgate and one of the electric windows needs rebuilding. Hopefully the aircon just needs re gassing and that's it.
It drives beautifully. Only the tiniest play in the steering and no signs of the common bump steering. Engine is incredibly quiet from cold, no hint of the usual play in the tappet rockers when cold. Box changes smoothly and no clunks into reverse. It just seems to be an absolute gem of a car.

It's not a colour I ever appreciated until I started looking at the In Vogues. It'll probably grow on me.
I wasn't looking for a car but the chap restoring mine mentioned the car and that he would snap it up if he could and at the same time the Home Office had lodged a formal complaint that we needed a family car for the summer at the same time.

Oh that colour will always be special to me, loved it ever since I was a child! My father had a Range Rover Classic in that colour, but it was a little bit more special. Janspeed turbo conversion under the bonnet & had been graced with a Wood & Pickett interior.
What an excellent choice for a family car! Have fun in it.

My father had a dark blue Vogue, an 86 or thereabouts and my Godfather had a Lincoln Green 2 door. Many happy childhood memories.
Looking forward to taking the kids on breaks this summer in this one. And then getting the 2 door up and running in time for next summer.

The 4 door is now my daily until the '72 is ready and then I'll sell it on. In the meantime I'll potter on the minor boggles to get it properly perfect.
This latest 2 door is a project to use all the parts that I've collected. I'll keep it out at the house for running about there and slowly bring that up to top spec over the next few years and sell it on. I'll need to find a hamper for it.

400hp aint enough..(anyone got a 4.7 tundra engine??).hi ya !!how you doing??may i recomend zf24eh with aftermarket ecu??so nice!!flappy padles..or locar style shifter??dont forget the NOS!!looked into the 5.5 amg lump, but decided to expensive to tune, hense current project using boosted and NOSed 4.6..atleast till it goes pop...nice noise it makes though!!

Lord no! As an original In Vogue it will slowly be restored to mint while being used as a weekend countryside trundler.
This '72 is the base for my daily driver:
It's fully restored but to a mixed spec, so mixing it up again to suit me doesn't matter.
