I wouldn't without going to see it and crawling over and under. Series Landies can be money pits. What are your mechanical skills like ? The mention of "some rust" is a clue ?

I can do most things I guess, yeah the "some rust" catch all, some rust including the chassis has been replaced by "some rust"

Overpriced if unseen. I paid £800 for an mot'd s3 in much better nick no rust. It wasnt 73 tho so tax exemption is worth a bit

I hadn't twigged the tax exemption, I think that counts for a bit too, even if the brakes is a big job you could take the view that 2 years of road tax savings would cover it.

that winch if it is sound would add some value too or you could sell it to cover some of the servicing costs.

the seats and chequer floor would put me off though, but the big item for me would still be the cost of recovering it to dorset, unless the seller is willing to get it to a local garage who could sort out the brakes.

I think overall I would still pass it by, there must be a fair selection of trucks more local to you if you keep looking.

If it has been a road-legal working vehicle, it's probably quite sound. What would put me off is the tread plate along the edges of the wings and doors. Most likely fitted to cover damage it will have caused more. And there's nothing I like doing less than bodywork. In relation to cars that is.

Hang tight, save some more money, when the right one comes along you will know.
Series 2s seem to be going up in price (don't think because tax free but price of series 1s thus demand for series 2s going up)
Like previously said you need to go look, crawl under over at least 6 times but remember even if you can't find anything wrong on looking I bet you have to spend money on it within a few weeks.......
