Can anyone tell me what oil I need for the front diff and transfer box on a 300 TDi and how much ? Going to change the seals at the weekend..

EP90, about 5 litres should cover the lot...

Yes got in touch with Ashcroft transmissions, new seals felt washer and output flange including nuts/bolts for propshaft £42 incl delivery.

My front output flange, crap pic but you can see the grooves worn by the seals. I only noticed it when I changed the transferbox oil and it all came straight out again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

going by the picture it's quite badly worn, the nut that held the flange on is 30mm but can you tell me if it's a nyloc or is it a castlatedwith a split pin ? Haven't had chance to strip mine yet so just want to be prepaired !!!

Nylock. There should be a chuffin big washer behind it and then the felt washer. If you coat the splines with some sort of sealant before you put the flange on then you stand more chance of it being oil tight.

CAPACITIES: Diffs front and rear 1.7 litres each Transfer box 2.3 litres.
This is a guide only. Oil levels musy be checked using the level plugs.

has anyone changed their gearbox oil lately,i have a disco 11,i have done my diffs,front and back but am not sure if the gearbox oil needs changing or not?

If you dont know when it was last done-Do it,should normaly be done every 25k,do yeh tranfer box at the same time and dont forget yeh swivels.
