Ok i've downloaded the manual, chcked and tried to rectify every possible ingress point, but, still, every morning after a tiny bit of rain, I get this when braking at the bottom of the hill where we live:



I have renewed doors seals, sealed them upp, sealed the roof gutters, roof joints, adjusted the door closing, and just do not know what else to look for. It's like water is being 'stored' somewhere, then running out when I brake and it gets thrown forward :scratching_chin:

Any help much appreciated.

that water is collecting along the inner gutter of your roof. it could just be condensation thats dripped off the roof, down into the gutter, or it could be the same as mine and coming in through the rear roof vents (if yours has them?) http://i15.ebayimg.com/03/i/001/12/25/fd64_35.JPG

The water that collects on the roof,drips directly onto the top of these if the roof is tilting down at the back and because they leak like a sive, the water get into the inside gutter and pools.

Roof vents are at the back of the vehicle, Above the rear door. Although not all roofs have them fitted, Only the early ones had them

Do you have Alpine windows fitted? I had similar issue renewed Alpine window seals all OK now.

Yes I have alpine windows. The sheer amount of water makes me think it is pooling / collecting somewhere.... i'll have a look at the seals.

can you not clean it up, garden hose the roof, and have a drive and brake with the door open. then you can see if it's outside or not.

Wait till you get frog spawn lying in the foot well, then you'll know you gotta leak.

Have a go at this. VERY SIMPLE. spray the door seals with silicon. Not the stuff you seal baths with. It sorted mine out which was pouring in.
I also have some magic stuff, V expensive,
Tyre and Trim dressing. Mercedes Benz. Cheap and easy.
Acrylic Toolbox, Expensive and you need to practice as it goes off quickly but using these I am drip dry.

How old is yur Defender? I have spent the past 3 months doing all the same work as yourself plus replaced all seals on bulkhead to cure water ingress. Turns out its my Alpine window seal, mines a 97 and still has the original seals. I removed my liner jammed my head at a silly angle and got my boy to spray water, could see it running in then pulling in the inner gutter.

New genuine seals are 50 odd quid plus I need mine fitting, but I,m off tae Kenya fur 3 months so the pennies I save will pay fur mine on ma return!

Mine is a 96 - planning to remove the headlining over the weekend and will give it a good squirt with the hose!
