My sister has this Landy in the photo with a 3.5 V8 petrol in it, can someone tell me
the correct tyre load rating that should be on it.

She's looking at fitting new tyres to it so thought i'd ask and also any good options
to go for, its on Cooper stt tyres at the moment which she says aren't too great in the
wet on the rd.

bear in mind that it's a compromise.

generally, good in the mud will be crap in the wet on road.. and vice versa.

or you go midway, with not bad on road, not bad on mud.

Yes i understand its always a compromise, i used to have BFG A/T's on my
Range Rover and thought they were okay on the rd, they have the same
wet grip rating as her Coopers though which she says are ****ing ***t

So for the ease of the maths if the Landy is 2000 kgs fully loaded the
four tyres need to be rated to carry 2500 kgs = 625 per tyre = load index 92

Taken from tyre save website

"Most car and van tyres used in the UK have both a load and speed rating after the tyre size, e.g. 195/65R15 is usually followed by 91V. This means the tyres can carry a load of 615 kgs upto a maximum speed of 149 mph. When replacing tyres it is important to ensure the new tyres, even if a different size, have the same or a higher load rating. It is normal for the combined load of the 4 tyres to exceed the maximum weight of the vehicle by about 25% to allow for uneven load distribution or excessive loads when cornering or braking. The table below shows the conversion from the LI number to the capacity in kilograms"

I've been on mytyres website and the range of tyre loadings
for the list of 4x4 tyres goes from

109 = 1030 kgs to 121 = 1450 kgs, all way higher rated than what's required
by the look of it.

All have poor wet road grip though so has anyone got any suggestions
what to use, BFG a/t's are my first choice

I've got cooper STT's and they're better in the wet than me AT's were lol. What pressure is she at?

as long as it says LT on the side by the size, you can never over load them on a land rover 90/110. Now if you got a 110/130 pickup you could over load the tyres. But by then you would have a very over loaded vehicle.

Cooper AT3 would be your best choice. And Jcraddocks have very good prices
These will give very good service

Got cooper at3s on my D2 awesome off road and on not let me down yet but have suffered a few punctures but so do other at tyres

REALLY....... Damn....... I have used them for 30 years or so and never had a flat. Well not really just worn the tyre to the steel plys, Sure got my money out of that set

I just love them, They are excellent on all road conditions, wear like iron with proper rotation, even in northern Michigan snow and ice, never been let down with them

Thanks for all the replies guys, i'll have to check what psi she has in them.

What should they be at ?

Just had a look at the Cooper Discoverer ATR's and they're wet grip rating is E so
even lower than the STT's at C

Must admit I've not bothered to check load rating on my BFG at2's

Never had a huge issue in the wet. But then I drive carefully in the wet any way.

As for pressure I run 18 to 30 in the front and 18 to 35 in the back depending on load and terrain Didn't expect that answer did ya?

What ever tyre you fit ignore the manufacturers recommended pressures just don't ignore the max and min.

The only way I know of to be absolutely sure of the correct pressure for the load is to do a chalk test.
