Hi all,

Just giving the air conditioning a little TLC in case we have a sweltering summer!

Can anyone tell me the part number I require for the thermostatic expansion valve? Range Rover 1995 DT although I suspect they're probably all the same?!

Has been for a while to be fair but seeing as it was winter I decided to leave the job until things warmed up a bit and my hands didn't freeze to the pipes!

Guy trying to charge the system seemed pretty confident that was the issue. Even described its workings to me. Said if I got the part he'd drain it for me and recharge it for me after I'd fitted it which seemed pretty reasonable.

On a P38, you should use the aircon winter and summer to keep the interior dry and protect the electronics

It's ALWAYS on! It is just that all winter it has been buggered with the book symbol up!

I agree with the climate control part though. Couldn't agree more, in fact but when it is dark, cold and bl**dy wet out there and warm and dry and with decent beer in the King's Head, well ...

Out of stock but asked how long to order. It says 7 days but that seems a little too convenient. Will see if it is still 7 days tomorrow!

I bought mine of ebay off a refridge specialist.My condenser was shot full of holes,spoke to the refridge guy and he wouldnt sell me one without a new drier and a new thermostatic valve.He reckined as it had been woofed for so long that the drer would be u/s that would knacker up the thermostatic valve and then woof the consenser.
Changed them all myself,pretty easy stuff considering some of the other jobs on them. Cost me 149.00 inc vat ,two year warranty if i fitted the lot. had euromaster suck it all out then,left it for a good hour no leaks then they added oil,gas etc all for £29.99 ,pretty good i thought,aircon works fine now and no blessed book symbol comes up.
oh btw they told me not to bother with new o rings ,just put plenty of wd 40 on them and refit after a couple of minutes,their words not mine,hope it helps

It does indeed, although those o-rings have been on nearly 20 years so probably safest to replace them for the sake of a quid.

Don't think the condenser is broken as there were no leaks when he checked the system.
