^^^^^^^^ Poor guy just rebuilt his engine too......... how would you stop that runaway?
Mind you mine is not unlike that, but in black!!!
Thick plank of wood across the air inlet.CO2 Fire extinguisher down the inlet?
Just take intercooler hose off![]()
After you find a screwdriver and don the gas mask of course.![]()
Assuming the EGR valve actually closes properly, you can disable it simply by removing the vacuum pipe that goes to the EGR diaphragm. Block the flexible pipe with a suitable screw. Thanks Mark
I may well give those guys a shot.
Would it help to blank off the EGR valve........or would that just cause more problems
Ash
A good clean and check the spring pressure closing it is good. No need to replace it, if it closes properly, disable as in my previous post, if it's fecked, you can block it at the pipe connection from the exhaust. The engine will live longer without it and it will pass the MOT.Thanks Keith
I guess from what you guys said earlier, that it is malfunctioning and not closing would a good clean sort that or will I have to replace it
I had a similar issue to this when I had my p38. It turned out to be cam timing. It used to start and run fine but had clouds of black smoke on hard acceleration. It only has to be out the smallest bit to cause it.

Thanks Keith
