righ i know my VCU is on its way (if not gone), and getting new one friday from Bell..

iv developed a clunk when acceleratig harshly in any gear or reverse..it sounds to be from front but not sure

also does it when turning hard right.left (seems to do it louder going right)

any ideas, will the vcu sort this (along with new bearings) i dont want to remove prop and vcu until iv got the new one with the weather being unpredictable at the min :(:(

cheers

Drop links are behind the fro twheels 1 each side partof the suspension and rollbar common fail on these and only a tenner each i think ish

my local garage does a pre mot inspection for around £20, always handy to ask a garage, as they will give you a definite "to do" list, rather than loads of maybe's

Sounds very much like the rear diff mount.
Lay under the rear of the car, put your hand on the rear diff where it joins the prop shaft and push up, if it moves easily its knackered.
Just changed mine today, noise has stopped now.

Simple test for driveshafts.

Drive around in a tight corner and listen for crunching/clicking could indicate a worn CV joint.
Its what I've been told, don't hold me to it though

Still got my money on front diff mount. Infact i could bet my girl friends life on it

the test you refer to is for CV joint not the drive shaft, after doing more reading im hoping its the diff mount, thats prob next on my list after vcu lol

im in the money, all of yawl better cough up your wife kds and money..it wasn't the diff mount...it was worse the horizontal bolt on the engine mount had gone?!?!?! therefore under harsh acceleration, turning etc, the engine rocked forward and the prop hit the tunnel (noticed a mark when I removed props and vcu)

m12 bolt and back to normal...however my vcu didn't show grr
