I have just bought a 1998 range rover p38 4.0 v8 and need to fill rhe engine oil but dont know what engine oil I need.
Can anyone help please?!

Against the grain a bit, we use Chevron Supreme 10W-40 diesel oil in our D2 V8, it is a semi synthetic oil but more importantly keeps the internals nicely clean.

We've used it for 5 years now, since we put the short engine into the Discovery.

Doesnt matter, Diesel oils just have more detergents in them

Yes, a D2 V8 is also petrol

Diesel oils are generally better for most engines than the cheap supermarket petrol oils, but folks don't realise that they can use them.

Big fleet users often run all their vehicles on the one oil.

PMSL, where did it say that ????? compression is far more important on a diesel engine so dont you think if this was a problem it wouldnt really be much use in a diesel engine either
