Since I got my 2002 ES beginning of December i've been bitten big time by the Landy bug and would like to make a few (Urban) mods if possible. What i'd like to know is - is it possible to fit the electric folding mirrors wiring loom and corresponding mirrors to my model so I have that option? I park outside my wifes business everyday and repeatedly forget to fold them in resulting in losing the odd mirror here and there over the years. This would suit me down to the ground.

I've got to say I used to love owning and driving a Mercedes but it's not in the same postcode as driving a Landy. Absolutely love it.

yes it is... you might even find the loom there if you are lucky... if you find an unused connector under that foam near the other wiring you need just the mirrors, the proper switch(which fits instead of the original one) and the ECU as the wiring for the switch and ECU must be there.... if you unplug the switch you'll see a blue wire in pin 8 which is unused by the actual switch, that's for the folding mirror switch which has the same plug

Would of thought your ES would of had them mine does . Have you tried pressing the button down . I had my d2 ES for almost a year before I found out they folded in . But then I am a bit slow :-/

Thanks guys. I'm beginning to wonder about my ES to be truthful. It has a few options that are missing that it should have had like cruise, folding mirrors and even the front headlamp washers (jets there but no function). Time for it to go in for a thorough inspection I believe. The price I paid for it i'm still happy as a pig in s**t, even with a few faults I don't mind rectifying. Which button should I hold down? The little knob to adjust the mirrors?

Yep, that one = put the mirror selector in the middle (pointing straight up) then move the adjuster button downwards. The adjuster should have the movement marked on it -

If not, then its an easy job to retrofit them. They're called 'powerfold' mirrors btw. You'll need the adjuster switch as above, plus the powerfold ECU. As stated ^^^^ the loom is the same in all respects except for one wire which you'll need to run from the switch to the powerfold ECU. The mirrors are a straight swap.

don't be amazed, mine is certainly ES and doesnt have powerfold mirrors, AFAIK this enhancement was standard only for Jap specs, for Europe they were fitted at the beginning as an option on customer's request by paying extra for it, here is from RAVE:

Folding Mirrors (Japan only)
Folding Mirrors Description
The door mirrors can be folded electrically to prevent damage using the joystick
operated mirror switch located on the fascia. The mirrors only operate with the
ignition switch in position II.
The central position on the switch is used for the folding mirrors function. The
switch is moved vertically down to fold the mirrors in or out. A dedicated folding
mirrors ECU is located behind the fascia adjacent to the ’A’ post. All feeds to
and from the folding mirror motors are controlled by the ECU.
Folding mirror operation is controlled by an earth signal received by the ECU
from the mirror switch. The ECU supplies a feed to each motor to drive it in the
required direction. The feed is supplied for a maximum of 30 seconds. The
motors detect a stall condition when they are fully folded in or out which is
sensed by the ECU which then removes the power feed.

I never realised my XS had power folding mirrors.. I had been manually folding them in until one day I was messing with the electric adjuster and.....Holy fuzznuggets! Mirrors fold in...and out! Should really read the habdbook cover to cover

I'm member number 2 in your slow club then coz I just realised (after doing what you said) that mine too fold in when I hold the button down. Couple of quid saved there that can be spent elsewhere. Thanks chaps, much appreciated.
