No, but you could fit the fan from the later model if you are worried. However, unless you are towing in high temperatures it never comes on. There is an overheat sensor, if that does not operate there is no problem.Hi I have a 2.5dse would it make a difference if I was to move the gear box rad and change it for the gear box rad from a v8 and move it to where the v8 one is
My personal view is that as the cooling system is already marginal, sticking any more hot stuff in front of the engine RAD is not a good idea. If you want to move it, mount it horizontally in the space behind the fuel filter and fit a fan blowing down through it.Ok cheers I wasn't worried about it getting hot I just think it's quite vulnerable where it is as I'm gonna use it for a bit of off-roading so wanted to move it
Best move your bumper valance too then seeing as it sits behind it![]()

Iv got a winch bumper coming so there would be a valance for it to hide behind :violent:
What am I a mind reader
Maybe I'm getting a winch bumper and I'm thinking of relocating
My gearbox oil cooler
Make sense now![]()
Fair point probably should have mentioned that lol![]()
I'd leave it where it is and make a wading muff for the grill to add protection.
I would def' not put it in front of the engine rad'.
While your there I would recommend data's fan modification for the engine rad.
How would you account for that? Why not??
mine has been there 2 years covered 50K and if anything it's better there, you can wire up the third fan to work with data's fan mod.
the oil from the gearbox is in much better condition now I have moved the rad, I've also retro fitted a dipstick for the gearbox![]()
How would you account for that?
Plus it sounds from your other thread thike ypour engine or FIP is fecked.
Why would moving the cooler account for that? the cooler works well in it's normal loactaion, it's in cool air with nothing hot near it, wheras in your new location it's got loads of hot stuff round it.beacuse the oil in the box used to come out dark red almost brown and now it comes out almost the same colour it went in?
yes, maybe but moving a gearbox cooler isn't going to f**k an FIP??

I never said moving the cooler would feck the FIP but black most likely will.
No worse for the airflow than the layers of hot RAD's behind yours, it's well back from the RAD.
