when i select d i have to a go little over 3 then slightly push forward. its the same for all gears. it drives fine when its in gear

Great...Dave. But I didn't do any more than post a link, easy :D

As u appear pleased I take it that just a slight adjustment is all that was needed.

very pleased it had to fiddle with it for 2 hours as it lost park but now all sorted and can select all gears again. The link you posted was more help than Mr Haynes :D

It will away take longer to do a job that hasn't be done before, but next time and the time after that etc, something only a garage professional has the privilege to have. Never the less Job Done :)

Haynes is ok for me, in that the wiring diagrams are easy to read compared to LRs, also just confirming what I had to do when I had to replace my water pump, it was much the same so backed up in the LR workshop manual, it's always handy harry to have the two to compare. :D

Is it normal for them to change at 2800 rpm ? It also seams as if slipping a little bit now after a 200 mile trip on sunday. Monday it stayed In first gear for about a mile but today it didn't but still took longer than normal to change

I recently changed my box to one that had been brought from Ashcroft not so many miles ago.

I know what you are saying, for what should be a box that drives like new mine sometimes takes longer to change up than I would expect.

When I first drive it I didn't fit the kickdown cable and it seemed to be fine, then after refitting the cable a drive down the road and it wouldn't change out of first, like the box I changed.

I was worried but a search led me to this post and I have downloaded and saved the link, thanks. ;)

After adjustment it worked ok but as I say, it doesn't feel perfect all the time.

One thing I did find awkward was getting the oil level correct. When you pull out the dipstick it is always showing oil quite a way up above the level on one side. You have to keep checking the underside. I drove it home from the workshop about 3ltrs short of oil. Hopefully I have done no damage. :(

i take it that the debris around the drain plug will be from the clutch? How hard is it to swap a clutch is it like a manual ?
