. . .and it's goodbye to my Classic LSE.

I'm selling as we don't need 2 cars any more, but I wanted to thank all the folks on here who supplied such great help, advice and guidance on the various issues that afflict those of us with the LR disease.

I will continue to lurk and hopefully contribute to help other sufferers - sorry enthusiasts - with their problems.

I know, I know, I've been putting it off for about 5 months, but it turns out SWMBO is angling after a disco 3 or an L322 - looking at the reviews and the problems people have with them both - I'm going to try and divert her enthusiasm to something more sensible . . .
 
All versions of RR have problems, they are LR products after all. The one & only advantage with the P38 onwards is that the corrosion resistance improves, but any faults can get bloody expensive. In the worst case senerio the repairs can leave the car a financial write-off & as to depreciation ...... The other point is that should you yern to return to 'Classic' ownership in future years you will have to pay through the nose for a good one - if you can find it. But there & again I'm bias & more than a little cynical.
 
Looks very nice....you've kept it for the life time of most cars....but theres plenty of life left in her! Good luck with sale.

Thanks Parisien - I always tend to keep cars for a long time - I like to get to know them and all their little foibles/character traits, longest yet was a BMW 733i that I kept for 12 years, ended up scrapping it.

LSE currently on 498 views and 44 watchers, no bids yet though.

Perhaps........after a number of days I'd be inclined to re-jig the advert, highlight all you've done recently, separate it out, list it properly, bigger type........try a USP type advert....the catch line could be better.

Pics of front seats, plus pics of work done underneath. It might be better if you fixed the EAS issue first, puts a lot of people off....good luck!

Added some more photo's.

Parisien - unfortunately ebay for some reason won't hold any of the formatting I put on the type other than letting me put italics or bold in Times roman (a typeface I hate) - hugely frustrating, as I'm a professional designer.

However, 48 watchers now . . .

Well - very sadly - it's gone. The buyer came for it today.

It's weird, but ebay wouldn't let me put a reserve on it, or put for collection only, or deposit by paypal, so I had to start it at the lowest I was prepared to accept.

There were over 1200 views and 75 watching, and only the 1 bid 6 secs before the end. I was fully expecting more than one bid given the interest.

I think the buyer's got a bargain, but hey ho . . .

Thanks again to everyone for the help and interest, I'll be lurking . . .

After only 2 weeks we've bought a P38. :eek:

Showed SWMBO (who was making noises about "something as big but less than 10 years old, maybe a Disco 3") various threads of problems and their associated horrifying costs with L322s and (even worse) Disco 3s.
Managed to persuade her of the logic of getting an older but nicely sorted low miler and having some cash for contingencies, so after some intensive research on P38s and their potential 'difficulties', we plumped for this:-

It 'felt right' in the ad and on viewing felt even better, Tony's got quite a collection, a very interesting, very nice guy. Picking it up later in the week.

But we've looked at:-
Freelanders ("too small")
Honda CRV ("uncomfortable, too small, and Japanese")
Xtrail ("ugly and Japanese")
Santa Fe ("yuk")
Sportage ("naff")

Not even bothered with X3/X5 ("crap in snow"), Jeep ("yank") Merc ("ugly"), etc etc

She's quite particular, my Mrs. but I can't really fault her taste.

So somehow we're back with RR . . .

I had a nearly new one, it ate turbo's, intercooler failures, oil leaks, clutch problems, they never did get the handbrake to work and the SatNav was useless in France it was so out of date, I was never able to get a compatable update.
