Hi all a real newbie to all this. I have recently bought a free lander 53 plate freelancer 2.0 BMW deisel td4. I have noticed a miss on the engine more when doing around 2000 rpm. Someone dithered that its the mass air filter sensor so I bought a new one this made the acceleration really dead so reverted back to old one. Now I have taken the egr off and cleaned inside not sure if you are supposed to be able to move the valve inside by hand this seems to be stuck. Put back on engine seems to have improved but not 100% any ideas will be well appriciated thanks Wayne

egr blanking is the way forward I did mine and it does make a real difference I changed the hoses too
but read the egr threads and make your own mind up
Bypassing the EGR made the engine feel a lot more responsive, quicker to pick up revs, and a reduction in that dastardly foot-down-but-nothing-happening-yet feeling, a.k.a. turbo lag.

Which maf did you buy? Bosch or pierburg.......as far as I know you will have to use a maf compensator if you used a pierburg.
As a test you can disconnect the maf an take it for a run to see what it goes like........don't leave it disconnected though once you've done the test, you just want to confirm it runs better with the maf removed proving if it's shot or not.

bosch same as i took off. mate brought is computer around and plugged it in say p100 error which is a the maf faulty going to see if they will exchange it. said on bag of new maf if opened cant exchange may take three weeks for them to admit fault on new maf. i will just have to wait as i havent another £100 to try another in the mean time thanks wayne

Mmm......As far as I know the maf doesn't usually .throw up fault codes which is why it's hard to fault find when they go out of spec..........could be wrong though!

well they exchanged the MAF sensor and still the same problem. looks like to me my old Maf sensor was sensing nothing as it was not working so think new one is sensing problem hence why no acceleration. been looking on internet and seems to be saying that the new sensor as been updated so does this mean that i have to update the ecu. saying something about a RonBox anybody can shed some light would be well grateful thanks wayne
