Yes....but you drive 50 miles each way at a reasonable speed hopefully, without having to stop and start too much. All I ever seem to do is stop start stop start all the time in the metropolis. It is so nice to get out of it occasionally and drive!
Mine easily achieves 43.7mpg without trying, but it's a manual and I've sorted everything on it but never really drove it before it was done.
100 miles each way old chap!!Yes, but I do a bit of around town work too. Before I fixed the stat I had to be very careful to get that figure whereas now I can just get on and drive and still get the same so IMO it has helped doing the stat.
ps, I do NOT miss driving around central London one bit at all!! 7 years I did that - why...? :confused2: I used the bike a lot (one of the very first M900 Monster Ducatis) but left London about the same time I was starting to think bike couriers were slow pussies. Thankfully, I'm still alive to tell the tale and never had a whack. Came close quite a few times....
Also thinking of getting one , where do you connect it ?The Scangauge 2 is a really good bit of kit, at the moment I have it displaying water temp, boost, instant mpg and ave mpg but you can choose from a huge range of gauges to display.. Since my wife uses the Freelender for work every day I've set the display to purple which she loves.
Mines is an 04 plate TD4 SE and the Scangauge works as soon as you connect it, I ran the cable behind the centre console and up the gap at the side of the steering column, really easy.
When you come to fit the Gates thermostat, take the whole top hose off and put the engine side in a jug of boiling water for a few minutes, this will soften it and make it easier to get the stat in there.
100 miles each way......Even more reason to get higher mpg then!!!!
I'm self employed and have to visit clients all over South London, so my average speed can be 10mph on a good day, so not surprising my average isn't great!
I used to teach people to ride bike, but gave up 10 years ago..... I also did cbt's and was fed up with 16 year olds trying to kill themselves. The DAS bit was fun, but not in winter or the rain. I ended up being given an ER5 with full crashbars in the snow and ice as I kept on dropping the works Bandit 1200 on ice  after doing about 20,000 miles a year for about 4 years I'd had enough. When most bikes are only ridden for about 2-4,000 miles, that was more than the average biker rode in his (or her) life! You obviously rode many more miles than average.
thanks for that , never had to use that port , I will have a lookIt connects to the OBD port at the right hand side of the passenger foot well
