the clunk's been evident for a while now (well, since she bought it) and its now reared its head for investigation.
its a drive train clunk, caused by slop in the drive train. obviously......
so, eliminating the minor slop in the system, (drive flanges, diffs,) it appears a good chunk of it in within the transfer box or gear box.
with the wheels off the deck, handbrake on to prevent the rear prop turning, main box in gear to lock the box to engine and giving both front wheels a good shove, there's a bit of rotational movement on the front drive flange of the box.
this is notably reduced if the diff lock is engaged, but not eliminated.
its a 200tdi 90 with the lt77 mainbox, don't know the number for the transfer box, and the questions are-
what is the likely cause of the slop?
what is the fix for the likely cause of the slop, short of swapping the box?
short vid of front prop rotation, excuse the droll Yorkshire accent.
ta muchly.
