Our 5 year old daughter likes ipads- but I don't like the thought of handing over an ipad unsupervised to a 6 year old at birthday.

My partner favours a child's tablet computer for the educational side of things.

I favour a refurbished nexus 7 with bumper on it as similar price, better specs and plenty of games etc and lock it down.

what we want is best experience for our daughter and not something that she is bored of in a month or less

Im far from an eggspurt, but I would have thought she would get FAR more use out of going with your idea:confused::confused:;);)

I bought android tablets for kids as we were fed up with them having the iPads. They still have the iPads :( kids know quality.

My thinking as well, but be nice to hear experiences from people who have bought child tablet computers

what are the age of your kids?

Ours will play supervised on a nexus7 on checkers etc, but looking educational games etc.

weve got ours acer iconia 7" tablets. Mainly because they were on offer for £80 a pop. They love them. Im still not a fan of letting them be on them too much as their behaviour changes massively when they have been on them for a bit.

Bought my 8y/o an android last year, got parental controls I can manage remotely on it to, but he only uses it when were around art the moment,

I worked on out would be more use to get used to a propper os than a kids version.

Our 6 yo and 2 yo have supervised access to my HTC Flyer that I got on a phone deal a few years back.

They love the Aquafresh brushtime app and the 6 yo enjoys playing some game thats like pipe mania - the one where you are a plumber switches pipes around to get the water to go somewhere before it leaks.

The 2 yo also enjoys the cat app - the one that repeats what you say.

I have to say the brushtime app is the top fave though - they brush their teeth several times a day!!

A mate of mine has three girls age 6 and under and they use there old iPads and iPhones
There not connected to the wifi so they can't run up a bill or look at stuff they shouldn't but there just full of apps that the kids play with

And the kids like them because its just like what mummy and daddy have
