hello gents
Just going through the receipts i got when i bought my discovery td5 a couple of months ago and i found the last service receipt which says they used synthetic oil in the engine. I e never been a fan of synthetic and wondered what the genrel opinion was as too whether its worth changing or not and if i do will it need flushing out before i add mineral oil?? It was a land rover garage that done the work so i assume its ok but just wondered what you chaps think.

mineral ,semi and full synthetic will all mix perfectly ok,semi is what i use as is best price

Sometimes oil is specified for commercial reasons, so the manufacturer can claim longer service intervals better fuel consumption, rather than technical reasons. If the car lasts for the warranty period why would they care?

Newer vehicles can last alot longer between services than older cars but there is nothing wrong with regular servicing, which I have always been an advocate of bit the grade should be kept to what they recommend

100% biggest reason,personaly i like to put fresh oil in and contaminated out regulary whether oil still has plenty of life left
