Hi I'm new to this forum, just got a td5 discovery, it starts well and idles fine until the engine heats up then the idle revs drop and the whole thing vibrates badly as in panels shaking, teeth rattling, very annoying. Can anyone tell me if there's a way to adjust the idle? It's a 2001 2.5 diesel model.

Thanks

Delicate flower or big 'orrible 'airy bloke it's still considered polite to introduce yerself :)

Dunno 'bout yer Td5...nasty sorcery controlled things.......probably one of the little enslaved demons is ill or sommink

Idle is hard programmed into the ECU and not adjustable.......'parently.

EGR may be clogged and not closing fully which will give a rough idle, having fault codes read should help pin-point a problem I'd have thought

Oo ta very muckle. Am surprised at there being no manual idle control. It's fine when the engine is cold though. Confused.

there isnt on any diesel or was,on cold start up fuel is enriched and timing advanced slightly ,like with an old petrol running on choke with warm engine doesnt give smooth running

Haven't they got some sort of posh engine mounts (rather than just rubber) that damp vibration that need changing from time to time?

you really need to get the fault codes checked out. It could be the EGR could be the injector loom going open circuit one warm or one of the temp sensors, might be the DM flywheel, it could be many things. Best to start with a looking at the fault codes first.
