hi all got a promblem with my 90 cant get reverse but can get all forward gears.yet can drive say up to 30mph drop in to first gear let foot off clutch and she just keeps cruiseing along with no resistance . if any one as any ideas it would be much appreciated cheers chris .oh its a r380 box cheers chris

seems a peculiar one rev can fail and leave you with all other gears but no engine breaking is wouldnt seem a box fault , the last one i had it turned out to be overdrive unit any more info ,have you jacked each wheel up in turn and in gear and felt for excessive play

you have overdrive gkn if you have its at fault

one of the reasons over drive has a control unit is so it cant be engaged whilst car is in reverse as this damages over drive

yes it is a gkn unit can i just take it off

yes but you need pto cover ,bearing plate and input gear with bearings (frc5564 x 2)if youve got original parts it would be easier ,as input gear needs shimming to get preload correct units can be repaired ,devon 4x4 do the parts now as unit is no longer made

most likely, a disco1.222 t/box would keep your top end as is but obviously higher at bottom as well which may or may not be an issue depending on your use

do you plan on keeping it or move it on? used box and you inherit some else problem, may be may be not. Recondition box will give you years of trouble free and peace of mind
